Frequently asked questions

  • What time should my child be at the bus stop?
Students should be outside and at the bus stop five minutes before the bus arrives. Throughout the United States, children being struck & killed by their own bus while running after it, is the most common school bus related fatality.
  • Where should my child stand at the bus stop?
Children should stand on the sidewalk and be instructed to remain there until the school bus comes to a complete stop and the door opens before moving towards the bus. Never assume the bus is going to stop, in slippery driving conditions the bus may slide towards the children.
  • If my child has to cross the street, will someone cross them?
It is a parent's responsibility to get their child to & from the bus stop, you may chose to walk them across the street or wait until the school bus arrives and have your child cross upon receiving a signal from the driver when the school bus red lights are flashing and traffic has stopped.
